Built From a Passion for Land Cruisers
It started with James Sheppard, our founder and owner, who first fell in love with Toyota while serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. There was something about the way those trucks were built, tough, reliable, and honest, that stuck with him long after he came home.
Back in the States, James worked a steady job and provided for his family, but on the weekends he was wrenching. He restored his first FJ40 on the side, not to sell it, but because he loved it. Then one day at a gas station, a stranger offered to buy it on the spot. James said yes. Then he built another, and sold that one too. One at a time, until it became impossible to ignore what was happening.
In 2001 he took the leap, left the 9 to 5 behind, and bet on himself. What started as a passion project has grown into one of the most respected Land Cruiser restoration shops in the country. More than twenty years later, Jim still oversees every restoration that leaves our shop, holding every build to the same standard he set on day one.

Every project is completed at our restoration facility in Belle Plaine, Kansas. Rather than sending work out to a string of outside vendors, our experienced team completes nearly every phase of the restoration process under one roof. That lets us control quality, keep communication tight, and make sure every Land Cruiser meets our standards before it leaves the shop.

Jim Sheppard
Jim founded Land Cruiser Restorations after years of restoring classic vehicles and has dedicated more than two decades to building some of the finest Toyota Land Cruisers in the country. Every restoration still receives his personal oversight.
Jesse Sheppard
Jesse oversees the daily flow of every restoration, coordinating projects between departments and making sure each build moves smoothly from teardown through final assembly. He grew up around these trucks, and it's not just work for him, he has his own 60 Series he takes out on the weekends.
Greg Jones
Greg manages daily shop operations, coordinating technicians, solving fabrication challenges, and keeping every restoration moving efficiently while holding the highest standards of quality.
Amber Douglas
Amber manages client communication, contracts, parts procurement, logistics, scheduling, and project coordination, keeping every restoration organized from the first inquiry through final delivery.
It Takes a Team
Behind every Land Cruiser is an experienced team of technicians, fabricators, painters, and mechanics who share one goal, building the best Land Cruisers possible. Each department works together through the whole restoration, so every vehicle moves efficiently from disassembly through final road testing without compromising craftsmanship.
