Land Cruiser Restorations started in 2001 with a simple idea, do one thing and do it right. James Sheppard had spent years restoring FJ40s on weekends out of love for the platform, and when he turned that passion into a business, he made a decision that still defines us today. We work on Toyota Land Cruisers. Only Toyota Land Cruisers. Not classic Broncos, not Defenders, not whatever rolls in the door. Just Land Cruisers.
That focus is the whole point. When a single shop spends two decades inside one truck instead of dabbling across a dozen, the depth of knowledge that builds up isn’t something you can replicate.
We Know Every Land Cruiser Inside and Out
We don’t open a service manual when an FJ40 comes in. We don’t search forums when an FJ80 has an electrical gremlin. We’ve seen it. We’ve fixed it. We know where the rust hides on a 60 Series tailgate. We know which body mounts on an 80 Series always need replacement. We know which 100 Series components are worth keeping and which ones we replace before they fail.
We work across the entire classic Land Cruiser lineup, the FJ40, FJ60, FJ62, FJ80, and 100 Series, plus the 200 Series for clients who want overland builds and upgrades on the modern platform. Every series has its quirks. We know all of them.
Diagnosis and Repair, Done Right the First Time
If something is wrong with your Land Cruiser, we can find it and fix it. That’s not a sales pitch, it’s the practical reality of working on the same trucks every day for over twenty years. Engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, electrical, cooling, fuel, body, paint, interior, we handle it all in house. Nothing gets farmed out to subcontractors. Nothing comes back from another shop with a problem we have to figure out. The work happens here, by the same team, every time.

Whatever you can imagine, we can build it. We’ve done factory correct restorations for collectors who want the original character preserved. We’ve done restomods with LS3, 5.3, and 6.0 V8 swaps paired with modern automatic transmissions. We’ve done fully custom builds with bespoke interiors, custom paint mixes, off-grid satellite communications, and overland setups designed for life off the beaten path.
There’s no catalog. No three preset packages. You tell us what you want and we build it.
What We Don't Do
We’re upfront about what we don’t do, because that’s part of being a specialist. We don’t do frame-off restorations as a default approach. We don’t tear apart what doesn’t need to come apart. We focus on the right work to the right systems, building a Land Cruiser that’s better than it was when it left the factory without manufacturing problems that didn’t exist.
We also don’t take on every project that comes our way. If a Land Cruiser isn’t worth saving, if the rust is too far gone or the platform has been compromised in some way that won’t serve you long term, we’ll tell you straight. We’d rather help you find a better candidate than take your money on a build that won’t last.
