This fully restored 1989 Toyota FJ62 Land Cruiser combines timeless 60 Series styling with the power and reliability of a modern American V8. The original engine was replaced with a new crate 6.0L Vortec V8 mated to a 4L60E automatic transmission, with the conversion completed at 129,126 miles. The Cruiser currently shows 130,591 miles on the odometer.
Finished in rich Desert Tan with a custom brown leather interior, this FJ62 was built to be equally comfortable on the highway, on the trail, or parked in the driveway drawing attention. The build started with a rust-free body that received a full undercarriage preventative treatment to protect what was already a solid foundation.
Under the hood, the 6.0 Vortec is supported by a Champion 3-core radiator, dual electric fans, low-profile oil pan, and dual exhaust throughout. The suspension was upgraded with Old Man Emu springs, shocks, and a steering stabilizer with greaseable shackles. Brakes were completely redone, including new rotors, drums, pads, shoes, inner and outer lines, master cylinder, and brake boost. The front Birfield knuckles were rebuilt for reliable four-wheel drive performance.
Exterior upgrades include our custom triple bar front bumper with winch mount, custom rear bumper with spare tire and jerry can holders, custom powder-coated running boards, an 8,000 lb Warn winch, a Gobi low profile roof rack, LED headlights with euro-style side mirrors, tinted windows, and aggressive 285/75R16 BFG mud terrain tires on black Pro Comp rims. Eight roof-mounted LED accessory lights, two Rigid Industries front bumper lights, and a rear-mounted spotlight keep the trail lit up after dark.
Inside, every seat was reupholstered in brown leather, along with custom door and cargo panels to match. A Tuffy lockable center console with a leather-wrapped arm rest adds security and style. The JVC flat-screen head unit provides Bluetooth, navigation, and backup camera functionality, while JL Audio speakers and a custom leather-wrapped subwoofer box deliver serious sound. A removable Grant steering wheel, new carpet with sound deadening, rubber floor mats, and an aluminum diamond plate drop gate complete the interior.
