This restored 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 is a prime example of what a thorough and honest restoration looks like. With only 167,900 miles on the original engine and a 5 speed manual transmission, this FJ60 Land Cruiser was gone through completely from top to bottom before it found its new home.
Mechanical
The engine and transmission were pulled, all leaks fixed and cleaned, and the engine was fully tuned up with parts replaced as needed. The valve cover and side cover were painted, the water pump and thermostat replaced, and the carburetor replaced with a rebuilt unit. The engine and radiator were block flushed, spark plugs replaced, and all 4×4 and differential leaks addressed. The Birfield knuckles were rebuilt, the suspension upgraded with new OME springs, shocks, and steering stabilizer, and the air conditioning converted to R134a and charged. Two red top batteries were installed for long term reliability and the entire undercarriage was treated with Rust Bullet and 3M rubberized undercoating for lasting protection.
Interior
The cabin of this restored FJ60 Land Cruiser was completely redone. All seats were reupholstered in automotive grade vinyl, new carpet and padding installed throughout, and a new dash overlay fitted. A custom center console was added along with two 12V accessory ports and custom dual drawers in the cargo area. Dome light lenses were replaced with LED bulbs for a clean modern touch.
Exterior
This 1984 FJ60 Land Cruiser was repainted in the original factory color with a professional two stage base coat and clear coat finish. Custom rock sliders were powder coated black, an ARB roof rack installed, and the rear bumper end caps replaced. Side marker lights, turn signal lenses, tail light lenses, and FJ62 non-powered mirrors painted black were all addressed. Windows were tinted to complete the exterior.
