V8 Conversion and Six-Speed Automatic

Zach has been professionally converted to V8 power and paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, creating a completely different driving experience from the original factory drivetrain. The added power makes highway merging, passing, and long-distance travel far more comfortable, while the automatic transmission delivers smooth shifts and easy everyday drivability.

This combination preserves the unmistakable appearance and character of the classic FJ62 while providing the performance and usability expected from a modern Land Cruiser restomod. Mechanical components have also been inspected and refreshed throughout the build to give the next owner confidence from the first mile.

Drivetrain and Off-Road Capability

This 1989 FJ62 Land Cruiser V8 is equipped with front and rear lockers, providing additional traction when conditions become difficult. Whether navigating loose terrain, mud, rocks, snow, or uneven trails, the locking differentials allow the drivetrain to deliver power more effectively to the wheels that need it.

An Old Man Emu suspension system and upgraded steering stabilizer improve ride quality, handling, and control both on and off the pavement. The suspension provides a capable stance without taking away from the balanced road manners that make the FJ62 such an excellent long-distance vehicle.

Firewall sound deadening has also been installed to help reduce engine and road noise inside the cabin, creating a quieter and more refined experience during highway travel and everyday driving.

Desert Tan Exterior

The body and paint phase is now complete, with Zach finished in the highly sought-after Desert Tan. The warm, understated color complements the boxy lines of the FJ62 and gives the truck a clean, factory-inspired appearance.

To preserve the classic sleeper look, new OEM-style chrome front and rear bumpers have been installed with matching end caps. The restrained exterior design allows the quality of the bodywork and paint to stand out without overwhelming the original Toyota styling.

Modern Grote LED headlights provide improved nighttime visibility while maintaining a clean appearance. The stance is completed with Mickey Thompson Classic III wheels wrapped in Toyo Open Country 285/75R16 tires, giving the FJ62 a purposeful look and dependable all-terrain performance.

Refreshed FJ62 Interior

The planned interior of this restored FJ62 Land Cruiser is improved comfort, durability, and everyday usability. New carpet and sound-deadening throughout the cabin, along with a new headliner and seats reupholstered in durable automotive-grade vinyl.

For modern convenience, a Pioneer touchscreen head unit with a backup camera has been installed and paired with a premium JL Audio speaker system throughout the vehicle. These upgrades provide modern entertainment, easier reversing, and improved sound quality without taking away from the classic design of the cabin.
