What Is the Rarest FJ Cruiser Ever Made?
Toyota produced some special-edition FJ Cruisers during its production run from 2006 to 2014 (and until 2022 in select markets). Among these, a few limited models stand out for their rarity, exclusivity, and collectible appeal.
Rarest FJ Cruiser Model
The 2014 Trail Teams Ultimate Edition is considered the rarest and most collectible FJ Cruiser ever made. It was built to honor the final U.S. model year and featured…
- Exclusive Heritage Blue paint with a white grille bezel
- TRD-tuned off-road suspension
- Rock rails, skid plates, and all-terrain tires
- Special badging and blackout trim
- Production was extremely limited, with fewer than 2,500 units made. It was the only Trail Teams model to come with a TRD front skid plate as standard.
Other Rare Editions
2007 TRD Special Edition
Only 3,200 units were made in black with TRD wheels, Bilstein shocks, and off-road upgrades.
“Not So Special Edition” (NSSE)
A factory-spec curiosity with limited dealer distribution. Fewer than 100 units were estimated to exist, making it even rarer but less well-known.
2023 Final Edition (Middle East)
Released only in select global markets, this version was limited to 1,000 units and marked the end of FJ Cruiser production entirely. It featured Sandstorm beige paint, black trim, and special badging.
